Walter Wakefield loved books. He revered them so much, he tried to save some stashed in vehicles outside his route one Portsmouth Antiquarian book shop. Sadly, the Portsmouth man died of a gunshot wound after losing a battle in court to keep them. before this tragedy, he was ordered to be evicted after a ruling from the New Hampshire Supreme Court.
Massachusetts governor Maura Healy wants her counterpart Kelly Ayotte of New Hampshire to oppose a federal detention center run by ICE for immigrant detentions. In fact, Healy is demanding her opposition to what she called in a statement, outrageous and absolutely the wrong move for New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and the entire region. She said “I am demanding that. governor Ayotte to do everything in her power to block a new ICE facility. in southern New Hampshire.”
Snowmobile accidents include one that killed a New Hampshire women on a trail in Maine. Maine warden officials say it happened Friday in Jackman, in northern Somerset County. They say inexperience on the trail may have led to the fatal crash. She’s identified as Michelle Carolina Cantos of Nashua. in New Hampshire, a head-on snowmobile crash has injured two riders in Dixville. According to conservation officers, it happened near a warming hut Saturday. they say both drivers were injured and hospitalized. And a 15-year-old boy was taken safely from Mount Washington.
In a reversal of policy, President Trump has now invited all governors to the national conference this month. That’s after the National Governors Association threatened to. boycott the meeting. Among those governors is democrat Janet Mills of Maine. She was involved in a verbal brawl with Trump at last year‘s governor’s conference over his demand that her state ban transgender athletes from participating in girls school sports.
A Massachusetts couple drowned after falling through ice on Cape Cod. And police officers trying to rescue them themselves had to be saved. The tragedy happened Saturday in Eastham on Bees River. At the time she was trying to retrieve a loose and wet dog on Encounter Beach.
Arizona sheriff Chris Nanos, criticized for his investigation into kidnapped Nancy Guthrie, rules out burglary. She’s been missing for over two weeks, with her children, including NBC today show host in Samantha Guthrie wanting answers. So far, Police have received 40,000 tips, and a camera view that the sheriff says shows who the person is that did this.
