From Police Chief Mark Newport:
“I am proud to announce that the Portsmouth Police Department has become the 1st police department in the State of New Hampshire to achieve both State Accreditation and Advanced CALEA Accreditation.
This is a significant milestone that reflects our ongoing commitment to excellence in law enforcement. Accreditation is a rigorous process that evaluates our policies, procedures, training, and overall operations against established best practices.
Earning this most recent State recognition demonstrates that we strive to continue to meet the highest professional standards in areas such as accountability, transparency, community engagement, and officer safety.
Why does this matter? For the City of Portsmouth, it means increased trust and confidence knowing that your police department is operating within proven, industry-recognized state and national standards. For our officers and professional staff, it ensures clear guidelines, enhanced training, and a safer, more effective work environment.
This achievement would not be possible without the dedication and professionalism of our Accreditation Manager Kate Young, Professional Standards Lieutenant Chris Kiberd, and the impressive men and women who make Portsmouth PD great. We remain committed to providing the highest level of service and maintaining the trust you place in us every day.”
