A virtual platoon of Massachusetts police officers marched out of a Lawrence courthouse, thinking their presence inside would influence a judge’s decision. It didn’t, and in the end he found Kelsey Fitzsimmons innocent of an assault charge last summer. The cop who actually shot her during the incident in her home sat behind her in court after testifying Kelsey pointed a gun at him during a tense child hand-off to her ex fiancé who broke up with her via restraining order.
There will be no-kings day protests in New England, for instance, in Portsmouth and Boston. They Take Place Saturday in downtown Portsmouth and on the Boston Common. The last protest rallys Drew, thousands to market Square downtown, and local businesses don’t seem phased by the crush expected. In Boston, Massachusetts governor Maura Healy is expected to speak among others at a rally scheduled from 2 to 4 PM. And organizers say they expect up to 100,000 people to protest President Trump and his administration.
There is only one man on death row in New Hampshire. And the attorneys for Michael Addison hope to get him off of it. That’s why they’ve appealed to the state Supreme Court. No matter the outcome, no one else will be executed in New Hampshire since the death penalty was stopped in 2019 by the New Hampshire Legislature. Addison Attorney Michael Wiseman calls the death penalty cruel and unusual punishment since the law prohibits any future sentenced executions.
New Hampshire will be getting some high profile attention in April. That’s when former first lady and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will be in Nashua. Top state Democrats say she will be the keynote speaker at. The McIntire Shaheen Dinner, April 25. She was last in the state in 2019, speaking at Dartmouth College.
Maine is opening its first youth psychiatric facility in Saco. When ready, it will house a maximum of 16 patients under 18. They will also join 35 other states with similar programs. The state Department of Health and Human Services reports the latest that some 500 children were wait listed for treatment. that Parents who live far enough away will receive free use of apartments.
Excruciatingly long lines at security checkpoints in airports may soon wither away. President Trump has ordered TSA workers paid, then without checks for for weeks under a Homeland Security shut down. That is not the case for Immigration and Customs Enforcement, ICE agents.
The country of Saudi Arabia is weighing in on the war in Iran, urging the US to step up attacks. Saudi Prince Mohammed.bin Salman is calling the campaign by the US and Israel, a historic opportunity to make changes in the Middle East. And while President Trump has called The Crown Prince a warrior fighting with us, there is no indication yet that the kingdom would join the fighting.
