UPDATE
The small plane that crashed and flipped over in the water off Hampton Beach Saturday was towing an advertising banner at the time. It was identified as a Piper PA 18 with a single person on board, the pilot. He was able to swim from the overturned craft when it flipped over around noon time Saturday. Lifeguards also assisted him, and the plane was brought to the beach. He was not hospitalized. The plane would’ve departed from the nearby Hampton Airfield at the time. Multiple agencies responded to the afternoon crash, including the Coast Guard, and the federal aviation administration will investigate the cause of the crash. The crash just offshore from the crowded beach startled beach goers on a crowded Saturday afternoon.
