News update
Portsmouth is among the 35 cities and towns in New Hampshire that will be seeing lower electric rates this August. The Community Power Coalition of New Hampshire has announced an electric rate expected to save 75,000 community customers a total of $7.2 million from current rates. Starting in August the basic rate will be 10.9 cents per kilowatt hour. According to a news release, there are currently 35 New Hampshire Communities in the coalition, and once all communities are enrolled, the coalition will become the third largest electric supplier in New Hampshire. Portsmouth city counselor John Tabor is a longtime supporter of community power. We’ll check in with him on The Interview starting tomorrow.
