A special weather statement from the National Weather Service:
A very dry air mass and breezy conditions will combine with dead and dry fuels such as grass, leaves, and twigs to create the potential for uncontrolled fire spread across southern New Hampshire today. Afternoon relative humidity values will decrease to low levels between 25-35 percent away from the coastline. At the same time, southeasterly winds between 5-15 mph with frequent gusts to 20-25 mph will continue to dry fuels and increase fire spread potential. Wind gusts are expected to diminish later this evening with increasing relative humidity values.
Extra caution should be taken to prevent wildfires. Always consult with fire officials before engaging in any open burning activities and comply with all applicable laws and regulations. Never leave an open fire unattended and always extinguish campfires completely before leaving.
A sales tax in New Hampshire? Say it isn’t so! Well, Governor Kelly Ayotte wants to find out if Vail resorts is charging a blended sales tax on preseason ski sales. The Colorado corporation operates three resorts in New Hampshire, Wildcat, Crotched Mountain and Attitash. And for its so-called epic pass, and New England value pass., Vail resorts said in a statement, the company is legally required to collect a sales tax on the portion of the pass that is valid in other states.
The state of New Hampshire is stepping up to prevent or help prevent future fatal accidents in the Seacoast region. instead of the sloping grassy median, the state will install a median barrier, on 4.6 miles of I-95. spokesman for New Hampshire Department of transportation, Jennifer Lane in a statement said.
“Over the next couple of weeks, crews will focus on completing guardrail installation in the northbound median.”
Some Gorham New Hampshire residents in the north country don’t want the town to participate in ICE enforcement. That is the immigrant enforcement federal program, and while the town’s police chief says that participation helps keep the community safe, one resident pointed out at the town meeting,
“The police chief has so far refused to honor our vote, and is ignoring the decision of voters who rank above his office.“
A nursing education program at the University of New Hampshire is providing much needed new nurses for the state. That’s the good news. The not so good news is that potential nurses for that program are currently not being accepted for enrollment.
The Medicare advantage supplemental insurance will no longer be accepted at InterMed of Maine. The closure of that program will affect thousands of Maine residents using Martin’s Point Healthcare.
